Eater Denver: Brodo’s Apple Crostata Is Worth the Drive to Lakewood

The apples are peeled and rolled in a sugar and spice mixture and nestled into the tart-like crust. When plating the dish, there is a hidden layer of bourbon caramel swirled on the bottom. The crostata is placed on top, then given a scoop of vanilla ice cream and one last drizzle of caramel.

“We try to make it like your grandma would. It makes you feel good and that’s what we are doing here,” said Shaheen. His partner and owner Jane Knauf agreed: “It takes me back to my childhood. It’s the ultimate comfort food!”
